What is Acadia Grown?

Acadia Grown herbs are grown right here on Mount Desert Island, Maine, surrounded by the natural paradise that is Acadia National Park. When we say “beyond organic” we mean: Living soil grown, watered with MDI spring water, and only given supplemental compost tea derived from organic produce & island-sourced inputs (i.e. locally harvested kelp, lobster/crab/oyster shells)

What does “Acadia” mean?

Acadia refers historically to the 17th-century French colony in Canada's Maritime provinces and parts of Maine. The name derives from the Mi'kmaq word - akadie which means ”place of abundance" and the European name "Arcadia" given to the region by early explorers to represent a rural paradise.
